Bullying is legal in the workplace except...

By Jack Tuckner, Esq.Bullying is totally legal in the workplace - everywhere in the United States, unfortunately. There is no law against outrageous hostility, bullying, degrading behavior - no law. You can quit. They can fire you whenever they want. The only bullying that is illegal is if you’re being treated differently because of who you are as a woman, a person of color, because of your religion, your age, your disability, your pregnancy, or because you decline unwelcome sexual advances at work - then you are being discriminated against, retaliated against, or just treated badly - that's all illegal. But if its just general hostility, general bullying, you’re out of luck. So if you are being discriminated against, you need to complain formally to your company.
