Adela Hurtado is a Peruvian-American 2D animator, production designer, and attorney originally from Miami Beach, Florida. She graduated from NYU and earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. She later earned her LLM at Peking University, with her thesis focusing on animation law and policies in China and Latin America. As a lawyer, Adela focused on women’s and human rights legal causes at non-profits, law firms, NGOs, and the United Nations.
Adela has since embarked on an artistic career, working on animated and live-action films and photography projects in Peru and China. In addition, Adela is the President of the NYU Latinx Alumni Network and co-founder of the new Latin animation organization, Viva La Animación. Adela is now freelancing in the arts and developing her own animated projects based on her Peruvian heritage and legal career. She will continue her journey by studying at the animation school, Gobelins, in Paris for a M.A. in Visual Storytelling in 2024.
Adela hopes to continue helping people through law and the arts, and she is happy to be working on exciting projects again at the law firm where she got her start— Tuckner, Sipser, Weinstock & Sipser!
